RESEARCH AND THE ACTIVITY PROFESSIONAL!

NAAP member, Activity Professional, and Doctoral Candidate, Hayley Mosely is asking for assistance in her dissertation survey research. "Can you help me? I need experts in the field of Long-Term Care activities, like you, to share your knowledge about evaluating an activity program. This is a four-part Delphi survey for my doctoral dissertation, which should take you no more than 15 minutes each." Click the link below to participate

DETAILS: I am reaching out to gauge your interest in participating in a doctoral research study through Dallas Baptist University. I am seeking a group of experts in the field of long-term care activities who can provide opinions on what it takes to create a quality activity program in long-term care. The results of these studies can be shared with government officials, surveyors, and educators in hopes of improving the quality of activity surveys, the skills of the activity professionals, and the residents’ quality of life.
To be eligible for participation, you must meet at least two of the following criteria:
Over 5 years of experience supervising a long-term care activity department
Connection to or affiliation, such as a board or committee member, preferred speaker, blogger, vendor, etc., with a nationally recognized activity association, such as the National Association of Activity Professionals (NAAP) or the National Council for Certification of Activity Professionals (NCCAP)
Completion of comprehensive, 90+ hours, long-term care activity education program, such as the Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals Part I and II (MEPAP)
A researcher or publisher in the field of long-term care activities
Experience as a surveyor in CMS’s long-term care survey
If eligible, you would complete a survey to evaluate the importance of several identified elements of an activity program. Next, you would be able to identify other elements that are not listed as well as leadership traits that are important for activity professionals.
Once the results are returned, the items will be analyzed to see where consensus was reached, where all the experts agree, and where they differ. Those that differ, plus those added from participants, will be sent out for a second and then the third round in an attempt to reach a consensus. A fourth round asks you to identify the top 10 most important items and rank them. Therefore, you would complete four surveys in about 2 months. These should not take you longer than 15 minutes at most, and Rounds 2, 3, and 4 would likely be significantly shorter.
Participation is optional and completely anonymous in the published study. I will gather your email address to determine who has and has not completed the surveys, but will not publish this information. You will also be anonymous to other participants in the study. For the first 25 participants who complete all four rounds, a $25 gift card will be rewarded. #naapnewsnow #activityprofessionals #survey #doctoraldissertation #research
